The newest addition to the team is Jonathon Owens born and raised in LIverpool with his family, including Brother Martin who has helped greatly with transport and costs to aid Jon’s racing. From an early age Jon was subject to mechanics due to his father being a bit of a wreaks to riches fan buying and restoring dilapidated vehicles including full engine work and re-spraying and letting Jon begin his learning of how the metal beasts run.

Jon began his education at a local primary school Halewood C of E school and enjoyed lots of different sports such as football, athletics and basketball which continued throughout secondary education, at st Margaret’s High School in Aigburth, also being introduced to other sports which included rugby and athletics. Out of school Jon also continued playing basketball and swimming competing at a high level until a rugby injury left a big gap in training and an excuse for a bit of r and r.  Scouts has also a large part of his social life which took him across the country, camping, shooting, climbing, hiking and competing in various challenges.

Bikes came early in Jon’s life beginning with a cheap bike bought from a close friend, done up then after a lot of green laning the bike was exchanged for a race YZ125 which was built entirely from scratch with a good few kit bits, with the intention of racing in the Rhyder Powys summer evenings motocross events back in 2005-06. However after attending SPOD motorcycle engineering on a work experience fortnight from school and he decided to convert to a road race Honda RS125 1989 which did not last long, 5minutes around three sisters then with a catastrophic engine seize left Chippie pushing Jon back to the paddock and back to work then a month later having bought a newer 1996 kit RS125 returned to 3 sisters in revenge and ended up in the middle of the track struggling to revive the stalled bike after crashing on the first corner, it could only get better. In the last season Jon has managed to place himself 4th at Aintree against good competition and scored points in other clubs such as Wirral 100 and Derby Pheonix. But along with good results come many crashes and lots to work on and the following seasons to look forward to.

Jon’s aspirations are to complete his NVQ and IMI qualifications in motorcycle maintenance and repair and continue onto a HNC course at Wirral College, then to go to Manchester Metropolitan University to do a degree in motor sport, unless of course i get the call from MOTOGP!
